30 Days of Character Development (Day 6)

6.) Describe your character’s happiest memory.

Shockshell has a few, but the one that stands out the most to him was being picked up at the auction house by Meghan’s father, Paul—even if the memory itself wasn’t “happy” at the time. Shockshell had actually been pretty aggravated about the entire thing but that was beside the point, because looking back on that memory now means so much more. If it hadn’t been for that decisive $7,000 offer that outdid the last bidder, several things would have never happened to Shockshell—first of all, the likelihood of him dying horribly at the hands of the Autobots would have been certain.  Secondly, he was able to come in contact with his eventual bondmate, Sonicboom. Third? He came into contact with the obnoxious fleshwad that, for all her trouble, was probably the best friend he could have asked for. And Meghan couldn’t agree more.

30 Days of Character Development (Day 5)

5.) What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale

Shockshell is a four. He’s been with mechs and femmes, but ultimately he’s been with far more mechs and tends to prefer them. That’s not to say Shockshell would turn a femme down if she was interested, though. His ego is a bit too over-inflated for that.

Ultimately, he’s fairly satisfied with his (mech) bondmate and wouldn’t change anything.

30 Days of Character Development (Day 4)

4.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?

Shockshell is so painfully vain it ought to be illegal. He prides himself over his appearance and considers himself to be a total stud. Unfortunately, the fact that plenty of mechs and femmes have gone after him in the past has done nothing to deflate his already infatuated ego. He considers himself to be very attractive ”for a typical Decepticon.”

His human companion, Meghan, does not understand what the fuck he means by this. As far as she’s concerned  all Decepticons look the same. She doesn’t dare tell Shockshell that, though. She likes not getting picked up and left in trees.

30 Days of Character Development (Day 3)

3.) Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?

Shockshell has deep scars on his wrists. Not from self-mutilation, but from high energy stasis-cuffs. Shockshell was one of several hundred Decepticons first submitted into the Dark Energon program back on Cybertron when it was first discovered, and often times when he was put under the influence and returned from completed missions, his superiors would often have to restrain him and his other surviving teammates. Hours and years of trashing and pulling on his wrists caused deep lacerations and energy burns, resulting in the scars…

30 Days of Character Development (Day 2)

2.) What are your character’s most prominent physical features?

Shockshell’s distinct facial spikes and his bright red optics are the most prominent physical features that people are prone to notice first. The second most notable characteristic is the custom Cybertronian tattoo across Shockshell’s right shoulder, which reads “Pyramid Hunter” in ancient Cybertronian. He got this to commemorate leaving Cybertron for Earth, since it was his first time off the planet and he was originally going to be part of a recon group headed for Egypt. A last minute mishap landed him in the United States instead—and it ended up saving his life, noting how his entire unit was slaughtered along with The Fallen in 2009.

30 Days of Character Development (Day 1)

1.) Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?

Despite being a product of the Allspark, Shockshell had a very good relationship with his adoptive parents. Despite how they met in the death pits of Slaughter City, they were able to raise him very well when they finally had the funds to leave and buy an apartment in the lower-caste district of Praxus. Artshell, Shockshell’s mother, always did what she could to make sure her sparkling had everything he wanted—even if it wasn’t much. Shockpoint, Shockshell’s father, was a bit rougher around the edges but still adored his son.

Tragically, Artshell was slain in the bombing of Praxus at the start of the Great War. Out of grief for the loss of his bondmate, Shockpoint left Shockshell with the Decepticon army recruitment center and returned to Praxus. He got as close to the burning city as possible, then shot himself in the head with his own energy-pistol. His body was discovered several stellar-cycles later. Shockshell never quite recovered from the loss of his family.
